A Snubber
Resistor is used for the protection of Power Modules.
Along with Snubber Capacitor (part's of power module),
this form an RC Snubber circuit connected across the GTO
(Gate Turn Off Switch). This RC circuit protects GTO from
switching transient voltage and limiting the peak commutation
voltage during turn off.
During each switching cycle the energy stored in the Snubber
is dissipated in the Resistor.
